Report of International Yoga Day 2025
International Yoga Day is observed every year on June 21 to promote awareness about the ancient practice of yoga and to celebrate its physical, mental, and spiritual benefits. Yoga plays a significant role in calming the mind, strengthening the body, and enhancing the immune system. On the occasion of 11th International Yoga Day, the EIACP PC-RP on Biodiversity (Flora), Botanical Survey of India (BSI) and all Units of Botanical Survey of India, Kolkata and Howrah jointly organized a rejuvenating Harit Yoga session on 21st June 2025 at the AJC Bose Indian Botanic Garden, on the lush grounds in front of the iconic Great Banyan Tree at 6:30 AM. The session commenced with the inspiring message of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi ji, aligning with this year’s Yoga Day theme — "Yoga for One Earth, One Health". The event emphasized the holistic connection between individual well-being and planetary health.
Dr. Pratibha Gupta, Scientist-F & Director (I/c) along with Yoga instructor, initiated the #HaritYoga session with watering in the medicinal plant Calotropis gigantea (L.) W.T. Aiton of family Apocynaceae. Dr. Pratibha Gupta, Director In-Charge, addressed the gathering and spoke about the significance of Yoga Day and its relevance in today’s fast-paced world.
